Ongoing Research

We are inquisitive, just like you. Thanks to the neuro-plasticity of the brain, we can never quite claim that our work on understanding the benefits of the reading habit is done. As reading habits themselves evolve, not only do we constantly conduct research, we also share our findings for free and support other research projects with our insights and analysis. For students: Initiation into the reading habit at the right age, cognitive development, lifelong advantage.

Reading is intimately connected to mental health. Reading is hard till it's easy and sustained practice alleviates anxiety in the following ways, which we will give the acronym (REST)

  1. Restfulness: Reading is inherently restful, with studies suggesting that it reduces stress by 69%.
  2. Engagement: Lowering attention spans have made us jump to conclusions and choose sides out of convenience rather than knowledge and then suffer for it! Immersing yourself in a good book allows you to develop tolerance for ambiguity and stay in it, till the right option emerges.
  3. Sleep benefits:  Screens interfere with melatonin production and sleep quality, adding to anxiety. Sleep is nature's most potent cure.
  4. Terminates Cognitive decline:  Reading requires focus, which builds new wiring in the brain. These neurological changes arrest cognitive decline, reducing the burden of dependence in old age.
